Quality and thickness of multi-blade saw blades play an important role in wood cutting

In theory, we prefer thinner saw blades for better cutting performance. However, the thickness of saw blades is determined by the material of the alloy blade base and the manufacturing process. If the blade is too thin, it may sway during operation, affecting the cutting effectiveness. For example, for multi-blade saw blades, the thickness can be 1.2-1.4mm for outer diameters of 110-150mm, and approximately 1.6-1.8mm for outer diameters of 205-230mm. Thinner blades are only suitable for cutting low-density softwood. When selecting the thickness of multi-blade saw blades, stability during operation and the material being cut should be considered.

Ultra-thin multi-blade saw blades have also been produced by some companies to reduce material consumption. These blades have thicker sides on both sides of the center hole and thinner alloy on the inner side. The teeth are then welded, ensuring cutting thickness while saving materials. The cutting depth should not exceed 40mm. Some equipment also includes an edge trimming function, which requires the installation of a multi-blade edge saw. The edge trimming saw blade is generally thicker to ensure smooth edge cutting.

The quality of multi-blade saw blades is crucial as they transmit cutting forces while maintaining stability during operation. Excellent multi-blade saw blades not only have precise static geometric dimensions, but also have excellent dynamic characteristics. They can withstand multiple sharpenings and have a long service life. The quality of the hard alloy welding is also important. When the multi-blade saw blades continuously cut, the temperature of the saw plate quickly rises. High-quality saw blades can maintain high precision under such conditions, while inferior blades may cause the saw plate to warp. This allows the saw teeth to withstand greater cutting forces and achieve higher cutting precision on the wood.
